Tata Motors released a new offering in its range of models on Tuesday with the 55-tonne prime mover Signa 5525.S. As per the company’s release, the Signa 5525.S is touted as the highest GCW (Gross Combination Weight) prime mover in the 4×2 segment in India. The Signa 5525.S comes fitted with a powerful 6.7-litre engine and has three types of driving modes: light, medium and heavy.

In a statement, R T Wasan, Vice President (Product Line), Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, said, “With the introduction of the Signa 5525.S 4×2, Tata Motors continues its mission to be the pioneer in the Indian commercial vehicle industry with the widest range of products.”. The model is set to display enhanced performance and claims to be the key to reducing operating costs by lower the total cost of ownership.
He further added, “Tata Motors is the first manufacturer to offer the 55-tonne GCW on a 4×2 prime mover. Each of these new vehicles come factory-fitted with the Tata Motors’ digital solution for optimal fleet management, the Fleet Edge, to further enhance the productivity of the fleet and improve customer profitability.”.
According to the company’s release, the new prime mover comes with the famous Signa cabin and has quality features such as a 3-way mechanically adjustable driving seat, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, adequate utility space, sizeable sleeping berth, to name a few. Moreover, the truck is also offering advanced technology in the form of engine brake and iCGT brake, that promise to deliver enhanced control over the vehicle and lower maintenance costs.
