Piaggio Vehicles has launched its electric three-wheeler, the Ape’ E-City, thus heralding its entry into the electric vehicle segment. The three-wheeler is priced at Rs. 1.97 Lakh.
In a release, the company said that this model is the first one to come under its Ape’ Electrik range, that has been designed to produce electric vehicles under all the segments.
The new Ape’ E-City comes with advanced li-ion batteries, automatic gearbox, superior power and torque, no gear and clutch, doors for safety, full digital cluster. Ape’ E-City is the first 3-wheeler to have smart swappable batteries. The swappable battery concept is being brought in association with Sun mobility. Last month, Piaggio Vehicles has signed a partnership with Sun Mobility to launch its electric commercial vehicle range with swappable battery technology.

For Swappable technology, our partnership with Sun Mobility will enable customers to experience a very innovative, smart and unique swappable smart battery eco-system in India.”
With the Ape’ E-City, a warranty of 36 month/ 1 Lakh kms is being offered by Piaggio to its customers. Along with that, the company is also offering free scheduled maintenance for a time period of 3 years. Piaggio will also provide an introductory AMC package for 3 years at a price of Rs. 3000.
The company also said that the new Ape’ E-City offers a “revolutionary driving experience with zero emission with nearly no noise and vibration making it a next generation last mile mobility solution for urban India.”.
