Piaggio launches new electric vehicle, Ape’ E-City

Piaggio launched their new model in the electric vehicle segment, the Ape’ E-City, in Vijayawada on Thursday. The model is priced at Rs. 1.96 Lakh. As per the company’s release, the new Ape’ E-City comes with a host of new features such as a digital cluster, Li-ion batteries, an automatic gear box and no gear and clutch.

In a statement, Diego Graffi, MD and CEO, Piaggio Vehicle, said, “Ape’, a brand with a trust of more than 29 lac happy customer is paving the way for the Indian electric revolution with the Ape’ Electrik range and Ape’ E-City as the 1st offering.

Piaggio Group has a rich heritage of developing electric technology over the last 15 years which we have leveraged to develop these class-leading products for India. We are developing both Swappable & Fixed Battery technology solutions to serve the varied needs of the customer. For Swappable technology, our partnership with Sun Mobility will enable customers to experience a very innovative, smart and unique swappable smart battery eco-system in India.”

For the Piaggio Ape’ E-City, the company is offering a warranty of 36 months, or 1 Lakh kms and 3 years of free scheduled maintenance. With features such as service alerts, drive modes, economy mode, etc., the model is set to enhance the driving experience for the user.

Commenting on the release, Saju Nair, Head of Commercial Vehicle Business, Piaggio India, said, “We are pleased to be launching Ape’ E-City for the Vijayawada region.
