Talking about the kitchens on Twitter, Pawan Goenka, CEO and MD, Mahindra and Mahindra, said that in the past week, the company has been able to deliver 50,000 meals and 10,000 ration packets. He further said that Mahindra and Mahindra has opened the doors of its kitchens and equipment to be used by anyone who would like to prepare meals for those in need during the pandemic. As per Goenka, the company has been able to provide food and essentials to almost 50,000 daily wage workers in India.
This is one of the many initiatives taken up by the company to help out during the Coronavirus crisis. The company has recently announced its willingness to help in the production of protective gear, particularly face masks by collaborating with a start-up from Mumbai. The start-up, that deals with the manufacturing of sanitary napkins, had asked the company’s help in making 3-ply masks. Swiftly responding to their request, the technical team at Mahindra was able to modify their machine and established a production line within the company’s Kandivali plant in Mumbai, all within 4 days. Officials at Mahindra are certain that within 10 days, the production of 3-ply masks can be accelerated to generate 10,000 masks in a day.
Along with that, the company has forayed into production of low cost ventilators to be used for patients afflicted with Coronavirus, with the manufacturing having reached the testing phase. Mahindra and Mahindra is also producing face shields to be used by the medical community, the first 50,000 of which will be distributed for free across India to medical and healthcare professionals.
