The road tax waiver will be beneficial for 11.4 lakh commercial vehicle owners in the state. As per the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office, the road tax waiver will be a starting point to help commercial vehicle owners get back on their feet after suffering huge losses in business and finances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a senior official, “We took note of their plight. It was found that following the lockdown, the business of the transport sector has come to a grinding halt. We are aware of the financial condition of the state but still we took the decision.”. The proposal for the waiver, broached by state transport minister Anil Parab, was approved on Wednesday.
