The impact of COVID-19 on the commercial vehicle segment continues to be felt by Ashok Leyland, who reported a 56% decline in its sales for July 2020. The company recorded a sale of 4,775 units for the month under review this year.

In a statement by Ashok Leyland, the company said that the drop comes in stark contrast to the sales recorded by the company in July the previous year, which amounted to 10,926 units.
For July 2020, in the domestic market, the company managed sale of 4,282 units, in comparison to 10,100 units that were sold in July 2019. Ashok Leyland saw a 75% drop in Medium and Heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) segment at 1,499 units, as opposed to 6,017 units sold in July the previous year. In the Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) segment, sales for July 2020 stood at 4,282 units, down from 10,100 units in the same month the previous year, recording a decline of 58%.
For medium and heavy buses, the company recorded sale of 114 units in July 2020, down from 1,350 units in July 2019, as per the company.
