Ashok Leyland, one of India’s leading commercial vehicles manufacturers, reported an increase of 14% of its commercial vehicles sales for the month of December 2020 at 12,762 units. According to the company’s regulatory filing, the increase in sales comes in comparison to the 11,168 units that were sold in December 2019.
As per the regulatory filing, the total commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market were of 11,857 units in December 2020, in contrast to 10,378 units that were sold in the month under review in 2019, leading to an increase in sales by 14%. However, the company reported that Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) segment took a hit, with sales declining by 3% in December 2020. In the M&HCV segment, the company was able to make a sale of 6,175 units, down from 6,369 units that were sold in December 2019.
In the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment, the company recorded a hike of 42% in sales at 5,682 units as against 4,009 units that were sold in December 2019, the regulatory filing said.
