Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, on Tuesday announced that the company has sold more than one lakh BharatBenz trucks in India since 2012, when the production for the trucks started at their facility in Chennai.

The company said in a statement, “DICV achieved yet another major milestone during the first quarter of 2020. Within eight years of start of production in 2012, the company has sold more than one lakh medium and heavy duty trucks in India,”.
This marks an unprecedented ramp-up in the world’s toughest commercial vehicle market, it said.
According to Rajaram Krishnamurthy, VP, Sales and Marketing, DICV, “BharatBenz trucks are specifically designed for India. Reaching one lakh truck sales show how much Indian customers appreciate Daimler’s quality and value”.
“We are very proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to (achieve) many more,” he added. The company has fared very well in the international market as well, with more than 30,000 vehicles being exported under the DICV brands. Moreover, the company has also recorded a sale of more than 4,500 buses in India since 2015, when the vertical began.
Commenting on the milestone, Satyakam Arya, Managing Director, DICV, said, “DICV is real proof of the Make in India concept. We combine Daimler’s worldwide network and long history of engineering with India’s ingenuity and frugality. That’s how we have exported over 13 crore parts from India to all over the world.”.
